The real Volkswagen Golf R

By on 18 January, 2015 in News, Photography, Reviews

The real Volkswagen Golf R. This post is an update and long-term ownership review of my Volkswagen Golf R. This is a long-term owner review of the Volkswagen Golf R. I’ve had this car for nearly 12 months, and driven it for 12,000 miles (nearly 20,000 Kilometres). Most reviews will show a pristine version of the Volkswagen Golf R, but hardly ever you’ll see one how it will look in every day use. Volkswagen Golf R For those who don’t know this vehicle, it is a 300Hp all wheel drive hyper hatchback made by Volkswagen. I took ownership of mine nearly a year ago and you can read my first impressions review here. Since its first release the press have unanimously raved about this vehicle. But what is it like from a real owner, someone who drives it every day, someone who has had to live with this car, and someone who has had to deal with its issues, repairs, quirks etc....

Landscapes with Olympus 45mm f1.8

By on 10 May, 2014 in Photography, Reviews

This afternoon I took my black Labrador Retriever Nero Benson of Whipsnade and shot some landscapes with Olympus 45mm f1.8. It wasn’t really my intent to photograph landscapes, it really isn’t my cup of tea, but to my pleasant surprise the field of view was actually very pleasing. And when stopping down this little lens produced some very interesting results. So, a great portrait lens, a great street lens, and a great outdoors lens? Do you agree? Or disagree? Feel free to comment and discuss. I got mine from Amazon who are doing a £15 credit on Olympus lenses during May 2014. Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45 mm 1:1.8 Lens - Black List Price: £279.99 Current Price: £209.00 Price Disclaimer Landscapes with the Olympus 45mm f1.8 To be honest all of my walks with our handsome hound are in the outdoors, as this is where I live.  I just don’t get tired of this landscape, it...

Dockey Wood Bluebells through an SLR Magic 12mm F1.6

By on 4 May, 2014 in Photography, Reviews

This morning I went out to my local forest and witness the Dockey Wood bluebells through an SLR magic 12mm f1.6 on my Olympus PEN E-P5. The Dockey Wood bluebells are well-known locally, they are beautiful and plentiful. But please stay on the paths, don’t trample them. This year is busier than ever before, and with their success comes destruction. The photos     Dockey Wood Bluebells Dockey Wood is part of the Ashridge Estate and a wonderful place to look at bluebells. Make certain you arrive early in the morning as it gets rather busy. The rest of the forest and Ivinghoe Beacon are also a worthwhile visit whilst you are out there. I consider myself lucky that I have all of this in our “back garden”. You can find out more information here. SLR Magic 12mm F1.6 Whilst this lens is a joy to use, and before I’ve primarily used it for video work, I’m...
